Jozefien Dumortier

Jozefien Dumortier is a Belgian violinist and violist.

In 2025, she obtained her Artist Diploma at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she studied with Miguel da Silva. Prior to this, she studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Maria Milstein, Marc Danel, Lei Wang (violin), and Sven Arne Tepl and Marc Tooten (viola).

In 2015, she was awarded the Rotary Culture Prize in Kortrijk. Jozefien has performed alongside musicians such as Lukáš Vondráček, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Yossif Ivanov, Lorenzo Gatto, Sylvia Huang, Stéphanie Huang, Lucas Debargue, Philippe Graffin and Ori Epstein.

She has appeared at international festivals including the Stavanger K&Mfest, Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Davos Festival and the Zermatt Music Festival & Academy, where she performed with the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic.

She has taken viola masterclasses with Nobuko Imai, Veronika Hagen, Hartmut Rohde, Garfield Jackson, Wilfried Strehle and Atar Arad, and violin masterclasses with, among others, Philippe Graffin, Henry Raudales, Sigiswald Kuijken, Alessandro Moccia, Karen Aroutiounian and Robert Szreder.

From 2019 to 2021, she was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) as a violinist. She was also a member of Young Belgian Strings from 2018 to 2020 and of Youth Orchestra Flanders in 2019.
